The Hidden ROI of Doing the Right Thing
Today at a Glance
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. !

How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
I recently came across a tweet that forced me to stop scrolling:

The tweet is about Scott Belsky, a successful entrepreneur and investor, who sold his first company to Adobe in 2012. It was posted during a news cycle in which a few notable stories had surfaced of founders seemingly leaving their employees hanging out to dry in lucrative acquisitions.
Scott had done the opposite—going to bat for every single team member. 13 years later, it’s still remembered as an inspiring, defining moment in many of their lives.
I had dinner with Scott a few weeks after the post surfaced and had a chance to ask him about the story.
What struck me: His actions had complicated the transaction and sacrificed personal economic value. He didn’t have to do it, but he did it anyway.
He stood up for each individual who had helped build the company. Not to get something in return, but because it mattered.
Because it was the right thing to do.
And interestingly, this one act of true, selfless leadership—undertaken with no expectation of return—has created immense long-term returns:
Nearly every team member stayed on for years. Some still work at Adobe a dozen years later. And Scott’s reputation, relationships, and ripple effects have only grown stronger.
The conversation prompted me to ask myself a simple question:
What am I doing with no expectation of return?
We live in an ROI-obsessed world. Every action becomes a transaction. Every favor is tracked. Every relationship starts to feel like a ledger.
But the greatest returns in life often come from the things we do with no expectation of return. The silent support. The unseen advocacy. The generous act when no one’s watching.
The energy you put out into the world is the energy you will receive in return. Put out a transactional energy, you will receive the same. Your life will become one giant quid pro quo.
But if you put out a giving energy, you will attract something deeper: Loyalty. Trust. Opportunity. Love. Luck.
So, in the week ahead, ask yourself:
What are you doing with no expectation of return?
The greatest returns in life come to those who aren’t searching for them.

P.S. Scott Belsky writes a monthly newsletter with deep, grounded predictions on the future of technology that has become an absolute must-read for me. It’s read by a who’s who of Fortune 500 CEOs, founders, investors, and more. Highly recommend subscribing and reading some recent issues.
